The recipeisfrom Parragon's Eat Your Greensand the first time I made it, I was astounded by how deliciously authentic it tastes. he sauce is perfectly seasoned and the dishachieves the idealbalance of spicy and sweet.

When people find out that Im a food blogger, they seem to beunder the impression that my cabinets are overflowing with the most sophisticated of ingredients, and that I casually toss together grand culinary masterpieces day in and day out. Well, Iwish.

Just like everyone else, I dread spending too much time in the supermarket. I, too, run out of the good stuff and wind up trying to figure out what to make out of a can of this and a box of that and whatever got left in the back of the freezer. I throw things into pots and pray for the best like the best of them. And thatnot some pre-meditated grocery store splurge– is how I came up with these Spicy Sesame-Chili Noodles with Chicken.

I wanted the sesame flavor to shine through in this recipe to balancethe very strong flavors of soy and sriracha sauces, so aside from making tahini the base, I also cooked myground chicken in sesame oil, and I added toasted sesame seeds to the mixture. Dont worry though, the sesame never got overwhelming. Det var perfekt.

When cooking the chicken, I made sure to break it up into very, very small pieces so that the sauce would help them cling to the noodles so you get a bit of both in every bite. I loved that I didnt have to switchback and forth between forkfuls like I wouldve had to if I kept it in bigger chunks.

And honestly, I just couldnt believe that I wound up with such a tasty dish after trying to toss together whatever odds and ends I happened to have laying around. Ill tell you, though this might be the first time I ever thought to use tahini in my spicy pasta recipes, it sure wont be the last. Sweet and spicy sesame chicken is a home-style version of a classic chinese restaurant take out dish with a little spice and a little sweet, this dish is sure to please everyones personal tastes who can turn down tender pieces of chicken fried until crispy and tossed in a homemade sauce?

Can I share a little truth with you We spend way too much money on take out food. Its true and its shameful. Thats why I make this Sweet and Spicy Sesame Chicken so often!  How many times have I expressed my love of cooking I have a food blog for crying out loud!  Yet, when we all arrive home from work and school on Friday night, I just cannot muster the energy or the enthusiasm to prepare a meal.

Now, I guess thats really not a bad thing. Its not like we order in every night. Its just once each week, but with the way we eat, its quite expensive. Lad mig forklare. Both John. and McKenna are vegetarians and I am not. Now, normally, that wouldnt be too hard to handle, but they are two vegetarians living in the same household who do not like the same types of vegetables.

Mckenna will eat nothing but mushrooms and cheese on her pizza. Yes, its easy, but it can be infuriating when youre trying to order pizza for more than one person. I can eat anything on pizza, but tend to favour pepperoni and bacon. And, John. likes black olives. Seriously disgusting. So, you see, three pizzas are necessary.

Did you just suggest we order a half and half pizza That would work, but a half and half pizza will not work if Im the one sharing it with the vegetarians. Meat cannot come anywhere close to their food. And, on the flip side, I wont even physically touch olives – black or green – so that leaves that half and half option out. Do you see the dilemma?

Scenario 2: Ordering Chinese. Theres this little Chinese restaurant on Parliament Street in Toronto that we love. They have the best noodles Ive ever tasted. We like to order from there at least one Friday night per month just to get a break from pizza. But, like the pizza dilemma, ordering Chinese is the same thing. John. likes his noodles and his tofu dish. Im not willing to eat Chinese food without sesame chicken or sweet and sour pork.
